Who fell in love with books.
It all started with Goodnight moon, Eric Carle and the Berenstain Bears. There was Junnie B. Jones, The Box Car Children, The Magic School Bus, as well as The Magic tree house. Growing from Harry Potter and A long Series of Unfortunate Events, to Gossip Girl and the A List. And then there were those long sleepless nights with apples, ribbons and chess pieces. I've explored both Anne Rice and A. N. Roquelaure. Lolita and Lady Chatterley. I've been swooned and broken by Heathcliffe, Mr. Darcy, Bill and Eric. I threw away Edward and his fangs for Daniel and his wings. Hated Will, Patch, and Jace for the hearts they break. And I've understood love with Kureishi. I dried up in that desert with Mel and Wanderer, and faught off the cold with Grace and Sam. And sadly, I'm still in the process of coming to the reality that I'm not, and never will be, a bad ass Hunger Games finalist. I'm Twenty years old with a small, but growing library that i want to share with you all.
I decided to create a book review blog because, as an avid reader, I tend to search book sites looking for good novels to read. I then find myself wanting to rave and rant about how amazing these books are and the amazing minds who come up with this stuff, but most of the time there is no one around me who likes to read so the crowds are pretty dry.
I've always been the one who actually read those boring books we were assigned to in school, loving every flimsy crinkled page. And I always thought those books discouraged a lot of kids into ever walking across the street from a library. There was no true diversity of the books. They were all written in the same dull era, with characters who spoke in the same strange English, without any exciting action to fill today's fast erratic scene.
Not every one enjoys a classic.
Though there were a few of us...who end up spending hours in those isles, reading the backs of a zillion books, looking for the right ones to drag home for a few weeks. (geekybookwormmoment)
I'd like to take a moment for our dear Borders.
You are all seeming to forget the mothers of these big screen productions. The talented authors who grew these amazing stories from scratch. And most of these stories can give you a clearer picture than most movies. These people are pretty much the last shred of hope the big screen has. (You will notice I love my authors. Maybe more than the books.)
SO PLEASE don't be lazy.
Don't give up on reading just because some cranky old teacher made you read The Canterbury Tales and you've found yourself twitching at the sight of a book ever since. I assure you all,
there are books.
Written today.
With cool words.
and awesome fight scenes,
and gooshy gooey love,
and monsters and heroes,
and sports,
and animals,
and aliens, and far away places
all of whatever your little heart desires.
So, I'm here to help.
I eat,
breath,
and sleep,
books
SO feel free to recommend some of your own and the and talk of shared favorites. I'm always open for suggestions on what to read at the To Do List. and feel free to send your own reviews. Anything to save the books.
